I’d say our first try at CrossFit was a resounding success. Here are the three main movements we learned last night:
The one on the right, a push jerk, is the hardest to learn. Kind of a strange movement, but it’s mainly for when you’re really working on pressing heavy weight. Kind of cool — I felt tough.
And these kettle bell swings, for making our hot booties hotter (skip to 0:44):
The things we got picked on the most about were, arching backs (Amanda), and keeping a closed grip on the bar (Kara). We’ll work on it. I’m looking forward to the next session, which will be Friday next week. I guess we won’t have Jen again, but I think it will still be fun.
At the end of our session, we did a quick workout, for time. Five rounds of:
- 10 kettle-bell swings with 25 kg (is that weight right, Kara?)
- 5 right arm push presses
- 5 left arm push presses.
I believe we both finished everything in under 5 minutes, but I didn’t write down our times. Next time, we’ll have to bring notebooks!
